Little Governor’s Camp

Governors’ Camp, Africa’s first permanent tented camp, has been enchanting visitors since 1972. Nestled in the heart of the Masai Mara Reserve, this storied camp sits snugly within a riverine forest along the meandering Mara River, a lifeline teeming with vibrant birdlife, playful hippos, and stealthy crocodiles. This prime location, where the river weaves its way through lush greenery, offers unparalleled wildlife viewing and a serene escape into nature. It is a paradise perfect for couples, families, and friends eager to be swept away by the magic of Masai Mara's legendary safari adventures.

Little Governors’ Camp is a treasure trove of intimacy and charm, boasting just 17 luxury ensuite tents, each nestled around a bustling watering hole that pulses with life. The adventure begins with a delightful boat ride across the Mara River, followed by a gentle, escorted stroll through the enchanting riverine forest. Vehicles remain on the riverbank, ensuring that the camp remains a peaceful haven. Each tent features a grand wooden deck and a spacious veranda, the perfect stage for the constant wildlife spectacle that unfolds around the watering hole. Little Governors’ Camp properties are blissfully unfenced, allowing resident warthog families to wander freely, and sometimes, majestic elephants might just drop by for lunch!

Little Governors’ Camp has earned a GOLD Eco-Rating from Eco Tourism Kenya, a testament to its commitment to sustainable practices. The camp harnesses the power of the sun with a comprehensive solar energy system that fuels all its energy needs. Plastic bottles have been banished, replaced by sleek stainless steel water bottles and a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis water filtration system. Similarly, plastic toiletry bottles have been swapped for elegant, refillable stainless-steel ones. The camp’s dedication to preserving the environment ensures that guests can enjoy the pristine beauty of the Masai Mara while minimising their ecological footprint.

Little Governors’ Camp offers more than just a place to stay; it provides a journey into the heart of one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Here, every dawn is a symphony of birdsong, every dusk a canvas painted with the colours of the African sunset. It’s a place where the soul can find peace amidst the call of the wild, and where the spirit of adventure is kindled anew with each passing day.
