Paul's first encounter with Tanzania wasn't on a safari, but while working on an elephant project near Ruaha National Park. Witnessing the park's splendour firsthand, he envisioned a way to introduce more people to this captivating place. But this vision extended far beyond tourism. He believes that responsible safaris must benefit both the local communities and the wildlife.

Driven by his conviction Kusini Safaris was born. Today, the joy of safari and the opportunity for all the people involved remain at the heart of everything we do. We create safaris that not only exceed our guests' expectations but also contribute to the well-being of the land and its people.

Liam Rainier, a seasoned expedition leader with a wealth of experience across Africa and the globe, brings his infectious enthusiasm to our safaris in Uganda and Tanzania. Growing up in South Africa, Liam's love for the natural world was nurtured from a young age.

After his studies at the University of Pretoria, Liam embarked on a decade-long journey as a naturalist guide in the South African bushveld. This unique ecosystem has provided him with an intimate understanding of animal behaviour and the intricate balance of African wildlife. Liam's passion extends beyond simply spotting animals. He aims to create immersive experiences where guests can truly connect with their surroundings. His contagious excitement and sharp senses allow him to unlock the secrets of the wild, from expertly tracking elusive leopards to identifying hidden birdsong in the canopy.

Liam's expertise also encompasses safaris in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Australia, India, Indonesia, Argentina, and the Galapagos Islands, where he has led expeditions in search of diverse wildlife, including whales, snow leopards, and bowerbirds.
