Booking Flights

Once you’ve figured out where you’re going on safari, you will also be wondering how to get there. We will help you choose which country or countries to visit for your trip, and then the different national parks and coastal destinations to include. Part of this process is factoring in easy entry and departure airports. We don’t book external international flights for you, but we will advise you where you need to be and when. We handle all internal local flights.

Timing is important. What we recommend is organising and finalising your safari with us, whilst simultaneously browsing suitable flights. When the safari is ready, you can book your flights as well. It’s a good idea to get your travel insurance at this point too.

Arriving in the afternoon or later, and leaving in the afternoon onwards works best. This way you can check into your room straight away, and easily fly out on the last day of your safari. Most people will start their safari with at least one night in a city hotel, which we organise for you. It’s a nice idea to get some sleep and get over the jet lag. If you would like a day room for a few hours before flying out, we can organise that too.

You will be met at the airport on arrival by a friendly face with a sign board with your name on. We will help you with all entry requirements, such as how to get a visa online. Should you be booking for a large group or the whole thing is becoming a bit overwhelming, we partner with a flight concierge who can do everything for you.

Some common routes we recommend for our clients are; Tanzania via Amsterdam with KLM into Kilimanjaro International. Via London to Nairobi with British airways and then a short hop over to Tanzania. Via Dubai or Doha with Emirates or Qatar. One of our favourite safaris is through north and south Tanzania, for which you can fly into Kilimanjaro International and then out of Dar es Salaam on the same ticket. Other destinations in East Africa; Kigali, Rwanda, Entebbe Uganda, can be reached in similar fashion from the USA and Europe. There is now a direct flight from the USA to Nairobi.

Where possible we can organise cross border flights on small aircraft between major attractions such as from Kigali and Entebbe after gorilla or chimpanzee trekking straight into the Serengeti, Tanzania. Furthermore, we can also organise cross border and in-country charter flights which use more comfortable, faster planes on schedules to suit.

Southern African safari destinations are more commonly reached through Johannesburg. There are now direct flights here from the USA as well. But otherwise easily done via London or Amsterdam. From Johannesburg, Airlink offer flights to the major safari jump off hubs like Maun, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Lusaka, Zambia and Windhoek, Namibia. Cape Town also offers a lot of connections to finish a safari.

Don’t worry! We are here to guide you through the process and make sure you are where you need to be.
