Katavi is celebrated for its spectacular and diverse wildlife. Encounter vast herds of buffalo, graceful elephants, stealthy leopards, and abundant populations of lion, crocodiles and hippos. The park truly comes alive between June and October. During these months, water sources become scarce, drawing hundreds of hippos to the remaining waterholes and prompting crocodiles to seek shelter in riverbank caves natural phenomenon unique to this region.
